On her phone in a gondola! And the look on the face of the person she is with says they just had a fight about this.
Oh, wait….selfie with the gondolier! But she’s not including her friend obviously.
Those selfie sticks are absolutely insane!!! Im trying not to get freaked out by people talking (seemingly) to themselves when they use hands-free systems, but walking down the street and holding their phone on a stick in front of them makes them look absolutely ridiculous.
Dont get me started on those annoying sticks… As for the gondolier, will it suffice to say that I didn’t even notice what those ladies were doing when I took the photo? 😉
I’m sure you’ve seen my blog post when I took the shot of the handsome singer in a gondola….needless to say I didn’t even notice the gondolier or who was riding. He saw me taking his picture and he waved at me all the while singing “Autumn Leaves”….It was my perfect day on December 3, 2012….the day I decided I had to live in Venice eventually.
That is such a lovely Venetian moment!!! I remember a while ago I went to Venezia with a tour group and one woman from it was yapping all the way about how she will have a gondolier singing to her etc. She rented the gondola, went for a ride but got no song out of the gondolier. That same day I walked down some calle minding my business and got a gondolier sing to me absolutely out of the blue and for free. The memory still makes me smile.
Mine still makes me smile too.
People who take gondolas need to understand that singing needs to be arranged ahead of time in most cases and costs extra. Many gondoliers have no intention of singing. Some of us are just fortunate to have serendipitous moments when the fates align.;-)

And the friend who is not in the picture is at least thinking “I knew we should have bought that selfie stick”

Hahahaha! I’m glad he was a good distraction. I would have forgotten to take his photograph and hopped straight aboard 🙂

He’s quite a specimen. I presume he realised you were “doing” him?…

That is absolutely true. Such moments happen if you open your heart to this city and let it lead you and show you literally miracles.
