December passed snowless. There was not a gram of festive feelings in me for it is encoded in the DNA of this Northern girl that there must be snow for Christmas and New Year. On the third day of the new year the snow finally showed up and made me happy.

And would you believe I looked out my patio window about an hour and a half ago and it’s snowing here? Nothing like you’ve posted and only just beginning to stick to the grass. It’s been cold enough that it has stuck to the walkway to the parking lot.
Just glad I don’t have any plans to go anywhere….I refuse to drive in the stuff (or stand in it waiting for a bus:-)…)
Lovely to look at from a relatively warm perch though.

There’s something very calming about watching the slowly falling snow (with a cup of hot drink in hand). I just love it. And I love walking in the snow if there is no crazy wind that freezes your brain out for good. Driving in such weather is out of the question for me too.

Now that I have arthritis in my knees and can’t get up from a fall without a lot of help I’m very careful about walking in it too.
I do have a pair of Yak-Trax….metal things that strap on my shoes….no good at all in Venice due to all that marble but work really well here on parking lots and such. But if you go indoors you need to take them off. And they are not easy to get on and off. So, I’ll just watch it from inside.
It stopped after about three hours and then melted all except for a patch on the walkway (just where we don’t need it).
