So true but I have found maps I love….if only to give me a general sense of where something is. One was the one I got with my vaporetto pass on my first visit in 2008 (provided to me with the pass from the rep. of the company I traveled with) and the ones in the book called Brunetti Walks….they are much more accurate than most of the tourist maps. I ripped them out of the book and would take the one for the area I was visiting in my bag….just in case. Only had to check it once or twice as I seem to have an amazing sense of direction….even in a calle that dead ends with a canal.
The thing with a map is that you have to know where you are to begin with.
